Georgia is a year-round destination. Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are ideal for travel across the country. Summer is warm and busy. Winter brings snow to the high mountains — Kazbegi under snow is spectacular — though some high passes close periodically.

Yes. Georgia consistently ranks as one of the safer travel destinations in Europe. The US State Department places it at Level 1 — "exercise normal precautions" — the safest category. The main risks are the same as in any city: watch your belongings in crowded areas and use licensed taxis. The Russian-occupied regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia should be avoided, but they are well outside all our tour routes. Politically, Tbilisi is calm. The country is genuinely welcoming to visitors from all over the world.

Georgia uses the Georgian lari (GEL). ATMs are plentiful in Tbilisi and accept Visa and Mastercard. In mountain destinations like Kazbegi and Mestia (Svaneti) there are a small number of ATMs, but they can be out of service — we recommend withdrawing enough cash in Tbilisi before any mountain tour. Village guesthouses and small restaurants in remote areas often require cash. Entry fees at monasteries and caves are paid locally in GEL (usually modest amounts). Cards are widely accepted in Tbilisi hotels and restaurants.

Absolutely. We welcome families and adapt the pace to suit you. Child seats are available — let us know your children's ages when you message us and we'll make sure the car is set up accordingly. For younger children, shorter tours like Mtskheta, Tbilisi or Borjomi work best. Older children tend to love Kazbegi and the canyon country. Some activities have age minimums set by third parties — for example, the Martvili canyon boat ride requires children to be at least 5 years old.

Yes — since 1 January 2026, Georgia requires all international visitors to hold valid health and accident insurance as a condition of entry. Your policy must cover the full duration of your stay and provide a minimum of 30,000 GEL (around €10,000) in medical cover — visitors without valid insurance can be refused entry at the border. You will need to show proof of coverage at the border (physical or digital). Most standard travel insurance policies meet the requirement; check that yours covers medical expenses in Georgia for the full duration of your stay.
